After our eventful day yesterday, we decided to catch up on some sleep, knowing that tonight was New Year’s Eve and we had a long night ahead. Our plan for the day was simple: a leisurely breakfast or brunch downtown, followed by a visit to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, and finally, ringing in the New Year at the iconic Arc de Triomphe. With excitement in the air, we got ready and set out for the day ahead.
Breakfast/Brunch – Immersion
We called an Uber to take us downtown, and once there, we leisurely strolled through the streets, keeping our eyes peeled for a charming brunch spot. Despite checking a few places on Google, nothing quite caught our eye until we stumbled upon a delightful little spot called “Immersion.”
Its white exterior adorned with pops of yellow immediately drew us in, and with no signs of overcrowding, we decided to give it a try.
Upon arriving at the door of “Immersion,” we noticed a sign instructing us to wait for assistance. As more people gathered behind us, it became evident that this was a popular spot. Eventually, we got our name on the waiting list. I discovered that they didn’t take reservations at this location, which worked in our favor, giving us a chance to secure a table. Despite the growing line, we patiently waited for about 30-45 minutes.
Finally, our patience paid off as we were called for a table. As we stepped inside the building, we were immediately struck by its elegant yet cozy atmosphere, adorned with lush greenery. The interior boasted large glass mirrors and a spiral staircase decorated with foliage, adding to its charm. While waiting, I had already perused the menu online, torn between the array of enticing options. In the end, I settled on a simple yet delicious combination of eggs, bacon, and pancakes. William opted for the same, and we complemented our meal with lattes and mimosas.
The arrival of our food was swift, and it was a true delight for the senses. The pancakes, with their impeccable fluffiness, were embellished with a charming heart-shaped butter slice, adding an irresistible final touch. As we savored each bite, we found the food to be just as delightful as it looked—light, airy, and bursting with flavor, offering a delightful blend of sweetness and warmth. With every mouthful, the fluffy texture melted effortlessly, while the buttery richness danced on our taste buds, leaving behind a comforting, and satisfying sensation.
And as for the lattes, they were nothing short of divine—a heavenly combination of creamy richness and bold espresso, perfectly balanced to tantalize the palate and elevate our dining experience to new heights. The service was efficient, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.
Overall, we give it a perfect 10/10 rating because everything—from the food and atmosphere to the servers and drinks—was spot on. I was so impressed that I even grabbed a latte to go because it was that good. Without a doubt, we wholeheartedly recommend this brunch spot to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience!
Following our satisfying brunch, we strolled along the streets, soaking in the sights and sounds of the city. I purchased the 48-hour Big Bus tour pass, ensuring we could continue exploring from yesterday. We hopped on at one of the pickup spots near the Louvre and enjoyed another scenic ride around the city.
Our next stop was Place de la Concorde, where we took a leisurely walk around the area, admiring the intricately decorated fountains that added a touch of beauty to the surroundings. After immersing ourselves in the sights and sounds of the city, we decided to call an Uber and return to the hotel to recharge and prepare for the eventful night ahead. It was time to rest up and get ready for the exciting celebrations awaiting us.
Eiffel Tower – Second Story
After some much-needed rest and relaxation, we called an Uber to take us to the Eiffel Tower for one last breathtaking view of the city from one of Paris’s most iconic landmarks. Despite our efforts earlier in the trip to purchase tickets to the third story, where a Champagne bar awaited us at the top, we were unsuccessful. However, we did manage to secure tickets to the second story online. As we arrived at the tower, we braced ourselves for what we knew would be a similar adventure to our previous visit, navigating the lines and confusion with determination.
Once again, we found ourselves in the “pre-bought ticket line,” enduring the familiar wait. Surprisingly, security was moving a bit faster than the previous night, and before we knew it, we were inside. However, confusion arose as there was no marked area like the one for the restaurant from the night before. After some inquiry, we discovered that the line for the second story was on the other side and wouldn’t open until 30 minutes before our timeslot—a wait of about 45 minutes.
To pass the time, we decided to treat ourselves to some sweets from the nearby food shop, despite the biting wind making it feel even colder. Eventually, it was our turn to join the line, but not without a bit of annoyance as the group before us was directed to the same line we had initially asked about. After another 30 minutes of waiting, during which random people joined another line nearby, causing confusion, we were finally allowed to switch to that line. However, our journey was not over yet, as we had to endure another round of slow security checks before reaching the elevator line. Despite the delays, we were fortunate enough to catch the first elevator this time around.
Finally reaching the second story, we were pleasantly surprised to find a champagne area open because the third story was closed due to high winds. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise! We grabbed some champagne and leisurely strolled around, taking in the bustling atmosphere. Despite the crowds, we managed to find some open spots to capture breathtaking views of the city. Paris was a vibrant tapestry of lights and sounds, truly captivating. Sipping champagne with the love of my life, overlooking Paris from the second story of the Eiffel Tower, felt surreal.
I highly recommend the experience, despite the initial hassle—it’s absolutely worth it! After braving the cold and finishing our champagne, we opted for the stairs once again to descend from the Eiffel Tower—it’s just faster than waiting for the elevator.
Dinner – Su Misura
Once back on solid ground, we set out to find a cozy spot for dinner. The area around the Eiffel Tower was bustling with crowds, so we decided to explore a bit further. That’s when we stumbled upon Su Misura, a gluten-free restaurant conveniently located down a few streets and around the corner. Despite not having a reservation, we decided to inquire about availability—and to our surprise, they had space for us. The restaurant, though small, exuded elegance, and charm.
After browsing through the extensive menu, I settled on the Black Truffle Pasta, while William opted for a delicious pizza. When our dishes arrived, they looked absolutely divine. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with a creamy sauce that tantalized the senses. The aroma of the black truffle added a touch of luxury to every bite.
